The steel market will continue to grow All the experts are agreed about one thing: the European steel industry is back on the growth track. Demand from the automotive industry and engineering sector is picking up again and the German construction industry has also recorded a good set of figures this year. During the first six months of 2011 supplies to the German market were 17% up, while consumption in EU-27 was 13% higher. The international steel markets expect to see production levels increase by 1.6 bn tonnes in 2012 – a record rate of growth that is being driven by China and Brazil.
